Web Development tools that I use in Ubuntu [p1]

Ubuntu is perfect for web development here is the list of tools that I use

0. Ubuntu 10.10 .

1. Eclipse + Aptana 2.0 plugin - This one is great for HTML/CSS . NOTE: In Ubuntu 10.10 you must customize tooltip Ambiance/Radiance theme, something negate of standard colours because you will see just a blank combobox of auto-completion list.
Aptana 3.0 is great too, but it is in Beta.

2. Blufish 2 - Perfect for PHP programming. Just love it.

3. The Mighty GIMP - It is perfect for a Web Developer when you have a casual editing ( I don't know for a Web Designer ). I just wish it will support the Single-Window mode, I know there are alternatives like using a specific workspace or grouping the windows but that is not handful when it starts to mess your Windows List.

4. LAMP - Linux Apache MySQL and PHP :
  • To install lamp you first need to install tasksel .
  • Then run this command in terminal: sudo tasksel install lamp-server
  • Edit the apache configuration by running this in terminal: sudo gedit /etc/apache2/availabe-sites/default  .Change line 4 and 8 to specified folder ex. /home/alket/www
  • Restart LAMP by typing: sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart

5. Gcolor2 - Pick colours anywhere on screen.

The next part, tomorrow.
